Hospitality Staff - This One's For You

Applying For The Job

1. Complete your profile on our website.

Completeing your profile by inclduing your skills, experience, availability, personality! Venues want to know as much about who you are and what you can do.

2. Call Venues Back

Venues are going to call if they think you’re a suitable candidate. They will call you once, after that it’s up to you to call them back to organise your trial or interview.

3. Be honest

If you are honest about your skill set managers know what to expect when you start work. If you lie about your capabilities managers will not want you to work for them. Also if you have holidays, study schedules anything that may affect the job or your future employer and their teams, tell them! Honesty should be your number one priority.

4. Apply For Jobs

Don't wait for venues to get into contact with you or invite you to the job, activey apply for jobs that you think are suitbale for you.

On The Job

It’s important to make a good impression. Even if you think it’s a one off shift, there is always the chance that if you work hard enough they will want you to come back and work for them regularly.

1. Arrive early

Give yourself enough time to get to your shift early. You never know if a train is delayed, traffic is bad or you forgot something and had to quickly go back to the house.Arriving early shows that you are reliable and keen to work.

2. Dress appropriately

Make sure you’re dressed appropriately, if you’re not sure call the venue ahead of time and make sure you have the right uniform. If you don't have the right uniform head to our community page. Aussie Chef Clothing Company provide our staff with discounts to help them buy the right uniform.

3. Leave your phone in your bag

We know, it’s extremely hard to be more than 30cm away from our phones at all time these days, but when you’re on the clock leave your phone behind. There's nothing worse than seeing an employee checking their phone when they're meant to be working.

4. Positivity

Radiate a positive attitude. No job is too hard and no customer too difficult. People enjoy working with positive, happy, go-lucky people, it makes the work environment more enjoyable.

5. Be confident

Just be yourself. There's a reason they've asked you to come in for a job trial. Let your (professional) personality and worth ethic shine through, everything else will fall into place.

After The Job

1. Keep your head up!

If you didn’t land the job don’t get too down in the dumps. There are 1000’s of hospitality jobs out there waiting for you. Ask your manager for feedback and make sure that you take on board what they say and improve for next time. Life is about learning – don’t be to hard on yourself.

2. Rate The Venue

Rate your experience at the venue. If they treated you well, make sure you let other staff know so they can work for quality employers.

3. Upskill

Keep upskilling and keeping yourself involved with the industry. The more you learn and the harder to work the more of an asset you become.Head to our Training Page for courses to keep you upskilling.

4. Set Up Job Alerts

Get notified as soon as our venues post jobs that suit your skill set and experience. This way you won't miss out on any opportunities.
