JOB DESCRIPTION

Vintage will be here before you know it so the team at Wither Hills are starting the search for our 2022 crew.

We have a number of fixed term positions available within our winery in Marlborough, so if you want to be part of a fun and motivated harvest team, make some great award-winning wine, and create memories to last a lifetime then we want to hear from you!

VINEYARD HANDS

We now have an opportunity for a Vineyard Hand to join the team at our Wither Hills vineyards in Blenheim. This person will be responsible for all facets vineyard maintenance including tending vines, pruning, trellis repairs and maintenance.  If you have excellent planning and time management skills, we would love to hear from you.  An understanding of vineyard operations is preferred, but training is also provided.  You will also possess:

  • Full Driver’s License
  • Computer skills are an advantage 

AREA SUPERVISORS
Working closely with the Shift Supervisors, this position requires those who can lead, train and supervise a small team of people, have effective communication skills and be familiar with cellar operations. You will make health and safety a priority and ensure all tasks are completed to a high-standard and efficiency is maintained. Previous winery experience and/or supervising experience is preferred.
CELLAR HANDS
Previous winery experience and/or industry qualification would be an advantage, but not essential. Cellar hands will perform tasks such as cleaning, grape receival processing, racking, red and white ferment management, additions, barrel work and more.
LAB TECHNICIANS
The position will involve conducting routine analysis on juice & wine samples as well as data entry.  A qualification in science would be desirable and industry experience is preferred.

FORKLIFT DRIVERS
This role involves working across all areas and teams. It requires strong logistical, communication and organizational skills. Previous forklift experience is essential, a current NZ approved forklift license is an advantage, although training will be given to the right candidate.

REQUIREMENTS

Depending on the season, work will commence in mid-February and finish around mid-April (with the possibility of extension to some contracts).  During the peak of harvest, team members will be required to work 12-hour shifts, six days a week.  We’ll provide everyone with a delicious meal and continental breakfast during 12-hour shifts.  We also have an array of social events throughout vintage.

All successful applicants will be offered an in-house induction and training for their roles, consider health and safety first and be open to learning our processes and procedures.
Due to the current closure of the New Zealand border, we are only accepting applications from New Zealand residents or international applicants who are currently in New Zealand. All applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
