JOB DESCRIPTION

Recruiting for our wine team. This is a critical role for a’Mare - our wine list is extensive, and has a serious Italian lean – We need a team to help educate and sell our interesting and varied list.

Our Wine Waiter's will need to be wine enthusiasts whose next step in their career is to further their studies in Wine and Spirits Education and work their way up to a Sommelier position.

 

Tasks include:

  • Working with Sommelier on list
  • Continuous training and development to ensure current knowledge
  • Advising customers on wine pairing with food, occasion and budget
  • Liaise closely with other restaurant staff, so that you are on hand to take drink orders and serve guests at the appropriate time
  • Responsible for briefing other restaurant staff on the wine list, so that they promote particular wines and can advise customers
  • Support tasks for the Sommelier & Assistant Sommelier during service, as required – tasks may include such things as pouring his completed orders, polishing glassware, helping staff take out or clear plates, and more.

REQUIREMENTS

General a’Mare Requirements:

  • Current working visa or Australian resident 
  • Good English verbal skills
  • Very good personal grooming standards 
  • Knowledge of Italian language is desired but not essential
  • Experience essential, preferred working knowledge of Italian cuisine 
  • Hours can vary and can include weekend and holiday work
  • All employees will be required to undergo a police check

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Wine Knowledge
  • Customer Service experience
  • Current NSW RSA Certificate

Preferred Requirements:

  • Minimum of one year working in fine-dining restaurants
