JOB DESCRIPTION

The Business

Island Gelato is a premium, fun and vibrant gelato brand, blending traditional Italian craft with a local approach to flavour, and sourcing.

Our first store opened 2014 at Waiheke Island on which the brand has been built upon. We also operate four Auckland CBD stores.

We produce our gelato & sorbets daily, in small batches, using high quality local ingredients. In 2022, we were rated by the Financial Times as one of the world’s greatest 25 ice cream/gelato stores.   

Our culture is family like, caring and hard working. Our customer service style is vibrant, attentive, upbeat and fun based. Our stores are modern, in great locations and play awesome beats.  

Full Time Shift Manager Roles Available in our Newmarket & Ponsonby stores. 

  • 2 – 40 hours, tbc on location.
  • Pay rate $25 - $27, depending on experience.

Locations: Newmarket, Ponsonby, Mission Bay, CBD Ferry Building.

 

Reporting to the Store Manager, the Shift Leader leads coordinates the on-duty team taking responsibility for the overall operation whilst the store manager is not on site. Potential for career progression for high performers.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Ensure exceptional customer service is experienced by all our guests.
  • Lead by example, be the best hosts we can be, creating lasting memories for all our customers through exceptional fun based customer service.
  • Foster and uphold our brand culture.
  • Ensure all brand standards, operational process and requirements are completed to the highest standard.
  • Be responsible for the store operation, team members and customer & brand experience whilst on shift.

 

Skills and experience

Previous hospitality, retail, customer service and leading small team experience is preferred but most importantly we need people who align to our values, care about every customer, and committed to our cause.

  • A passion for people, and helping to create memorable experiences
  • Energy, enthusiasm with a fun, positive can do attitude.
  • Desire to learn, and roll up your sleeves
