La Mexicana North Shore is currently seeking Mexican Food Chef’s Assistant to join our team in Auckland, New Zealand.

Employment type: Permanent – full-time
Days required: Up to 6 rotating roster, including weekdays, weekends and public holidays.
Hours per week: up to 40 hours.

Hourly rate or salary band: from $28 to $30 (depend on experience)

Job description:
- Gathering food, preparing ingredients and utensils for a variety of traditional Mexican dishes according to standardized recipes and procedures.

- Perpare corn nixtamalisation for the elaboration of our masa dough.

- Use the masa dough to create tortillas and other dishes, including quesadillas,sopes, and tamales.
- Work with the kitchen team to maintain a clean and safe work environment.- Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards and regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job pre-requisites
- 3 months to 1 year of relevant experience would be an advantage including
- knowledge of traditional Mexican cuisine and cooking techniques, nixtamalization and tortilla baking.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- A keen eye for detail and a passion for creating high-quality dishes.
- Good time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
