JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for reliable and motivated Commis Chef to join our team with a background showing previous Japanese culinary experience.

As a Commis Chef  you will be responsible for the preparation, presentation and display of hot menu items and salads (not sushi) in the designated area of the Kitchen and for the maintenance of equipment and work area.

Your primary function will be to follow the Senior Chef's guideline - providing maximum quality in order to satisfy customer expectations. Gain overall skills by working in different sections of the kitchen, enough to replace the Senior Chef when he/she is away. 

Your duties and responsibilities will include: 

  • Performing basic food preparation tasks in the kitchen, such as cooking rice and noodles, assembling lunch boxes, plates and salads.
  • Assisting senior chefs to prepare stipulated menu items or ingredients for dishes.
  • Ensuring that recipes and proportions are strictly adhered to, to ensure consistency, quality and cost control.
  • Receiving deliveries and puting away stock.
  • Handling stock rotation.
  • Following set policies to maintain standards for food safety in all food preparation areas.
  • Cleaning food preparation areas, pre shift and post shift.
  • Following set policies to maintain standards for health & safety at work in all food preparation areas.
  • Informing the designated management if any hazards are identified that may affect work conditions.
  • Communicating well with other staff.
  • Maintaining positive relationship between kitchen and front of house staff.
  • Attending kitchen meetings.
  • Any other duties the Owner / Senior Chef / Manager may reasonably require.

Please note: You should have a minimum up to 2 years previous experience in the above or similar roles.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Certificate in Cookery, or equivalent, is desirable, but not required.
