A bit about us...

kingi is an Auckland restaurant open day and night, housed on the ground floor of the heritage Masonic House, within The Hotel Britomart. Our focus is on making great food with a lean towards sustainable seafood that feels distinctly ‘of its place’, here in New Zealand.

We believe in vegetables just out of the garden, fruit right off the branch, and kaimoana straight from the sea. In our cooking we strive for delicious flavour and harmony with the environment.

The Role

kingi is growing and we’re looking for a vibrant, talented and experienced hospo professionals to work with us as part of the front of house team.

Anticipating a table’s needs and timing your attention is an essential part of the role of Senior Waiter. You instinctively understand when to be attentive and when to give a table space. You will have a strong understanding of wine and beverage in general, and ideally have a passion for food. The rest we will teach you if you’re eager enough.

On a practical note, you have responsibility for ensuring all tables in your section are well looked after; from taking orders to making sure that the proper plate, glass and utensils are available to the customer at all times. You act as a conduit between our talented, hard working kitchen team and the guest.

About you

You are professional, positive and curious about everything that goes on in our wonderful industry. You care deeply about good hospitality and are naturally inclined to go above and beyond for customers. You are also an excellent, patient communicator who rarely gets flustered. It might also be second nature for you to think about things from another person’s perspective.

You understand the power of first impressions and always turn up to work looking polished and fresh. You should hold enough confidence to help every person around you and you strive to make your teammates better than you. You like to ensure that new members of the team do not fall into the mistakes that you have made.

You'll also have a minimum of 1 year experience working in a busy restaurant environment.
