Our MSD Training Wrap Up 2022

There is no doubt that developing a short, hands-on program that invests in upskilling and building one’s confidence is a success criterion. Unlike other training in the industry, we offer a short 5-day upskilling program and work placement for people who are currently on welfare. In partnership with MSD and Manukau institute of Technology (part of Te Pūkenga – New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology). We are very fortunate to hold the training in the largest 5-star hotel in New Zealand – Cordis Hotels.

We had 28 candidates from MSD, the aim was to get them upskilled and get them prepared to jumpstart their careers in the hospitality industry.

We delivered two sessions this year between 20-25th November and 28th Nov - 2nd December. We had 13 graduates in our 1st session, with 4 candidates being offered a job at Cordis Hotels and 15 graduates from our 2nd session. 

Over the 5 days, Fabio (Trainer from Manukau Institute of Technology) has brought up the interest of the candidates, delivering both hands-on and theoretical learning more exciting even for those who initially resisted. On the 5th day of the training, the candidates had the chance to sit down for an interview with Cordis Hotels. Following this, Darren Turner (Learning and Development Manager at Cordis) gave the candidates a grand tour of the hotel to give the students the opportunity to envision what it’s like working in the hotel industry. By the end of the course, the feedback from the candidates was overwhelming.
