Leadership Development Days: Investing in Hospitality Careers

Aug 30, 2024

Leadership Development Days: Investing in Hospitality Careers

The New Zealand hospitality industry is facing a significant challenge: a widespread skills shortage. Employers across the country are finding it increasingly difficult to recruit and retain skilled staff, creating a pressing need for innovative solutions to attract and develop talent. One effective strategy that has gained momentum is investing in upskilling key team members, particularly through leadership training.

In a competitive industry where employees are often presented with multiple opportunities, ensuring your staff feels valued is critical. Providing access to leadership development not only enhances their skills but also increases their sense of loyalty to your business. When team members see that their growth and development are prioritized, they are more likely to stay and contribute to the long-term success of the organization.

Leadership training does more than just build individual capabilities—it sets the tone for the entire company. The skills and knowledge gained by leadership teams filter down to all staff, fostering a positive workplace culture and improving overall team performance. When leaders are well-equipped to guide, inspire, and support their teams, the effects are felt across every level of the organization.

Recognising the importance of developing strong leaders in the hospitality sector, the Restaurant Association of New Zealand is excited to offer a series of Leadership Development Days in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. These full-day training events are designed to delve deep into leadership style development and effective communication strategies, providing participants with practical tools they can immediately apply in their roles.

The Leadership Development Days are being led by some of the industry’s most respected figures, including Krishna Botica, co-owner of the Comensa Group that includes Café Hanoi and Saan and Ghost restaurants, and Marg Main, an experienced and engaging hospitality trainer known for her humour. Together, they will guide participants through interactive workshops that not only enhance leadership skills but also foster collaboration and networking among attendees.

Thanks to funding from the Hospitality Training Trust, the cost to Restaurant Association members is just $150 per person, making this an affordable investment in the future of your business. These sessions are an invaluable opportunity to strengthen your leadership team, enhance your company culture, and, ultimately, tackle the industry’s skills shortage head-on.

With dates scheduled in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, there’s a Leadership Development Day accessible to businesses across the country. Don’t miss this opportunity to invest in your people and secure the future success of your organization.
