Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I started in the industry because I left home at 16 and had to work for free rent in the Chinese Restaurant downstairs who were the Landlords. I came to Lulu through an Agency who had been advertising the job for a few months so they sent me here when I was looking for a new job. My favourite TV show is Hawaii 50 old and new because it reminds me of my time there. My hobbies are Reading I read a lot of Clive Cussler and anything to do with the sea as my parents brought us up on a boat every weekend. Giant jigsaw puzzles will keep me to myself undisturbed all day.
What do you like about the hospitality industry?
I love Hospo because it is about people coming together, whether that is staff or guests.
Have you ever served anyone famous?
I have served a few famous people at different venues around New Zealand but my most favourite person to meet and cater for at a wedding was Alison Holst as she has been the trailblazer for women in Kitchens.
What do you think is the biggest challenge currently facing the hospitality industry?
The Main challenges for the hospitality industry is trying to find a lot of staff and certain venues trying to find staff with the knowledge of their cuisines due to immigration restrictions.
What do you think is the next game changer for the industry?
The biggest game changer for Hospitality would be flipping its thinking towards click and collect generation, and the IQ ordering system as it will definitely redefine what service is and how food is prepared.
What do you like about working for Trinity Group?
What I love most about the company is the DISCOUNT! Nah I’m kidding. Trinity is very inclusive and offers its staff a lot of training opportunities that I know other companies don’t. What I love most about working at Lulu is the Josper/Charcoal oven. I enjoy the theme of Lulu, Oceanic eats and beats, it means I get to play around with a lot of seafood and pacific Island flavours.
